Gifted Minds was established to help parents and individuals understand and celebrate diverse brain types. The social-emotional, developmental, academic, and well-being needs for exceptional, 2e, high ability, gifted, talented, or neurodivergent individuals can be just a little bit different, and this invites counselling and psychotherapy that can recognise and help meet those needs.

Maybe you have a child (or remember being a child) with some or all of the following characteristics:

  • a strong sense of curiosity and ability to ask complex questions
  • reading abilities before any formal instruction
  • advanced comprehension of subjects beyond peers of the same age
  • ability to manipulate numbers or apply abstract reasoning from an early age
  • being knowledgeable in topics of passion or fixation
  • ability to grasp connections, patterns, and many points of view
  • a mature sense of humour
  • strong visualisation or imagination
  • acute senses or heightened sensitivity
  • acute awareness of social justice issues
  • ability to “think out of the box” or present multiple solutions to problems
  • and a strong persistence and concentration in activities of interest.

These characteristics can come in combinations and intensities unique to each individual. While giftedness can bring many talents and strengths, it can come with frustrations in mental health spaces too. Gifted individuals can suffer from Imposter Syndrome when they have executive function challenges and/or complex trauma; they can also experience profound loneliness and struggle with emotional connection with themselves and others when they have difficulty finding “like minds”.

Gifted Minds provides a safe space for diverse people of all walks, not just with high ability, to receive counselling and therapy that gets them.
